Dear Neighbors, none of us are pleased with the outrageous state housing mandates imposed upon our city such as SB9, SB10, SB35, AB2011 and RHNA numbers. The ability to determine our own destiny has been upended by state requirements to build high density housing in our city, with draconian penalties if we don’t comply. The consequences are obvious: overcrowded schools and more traffic jams. Just about every aspect of our infrastructure will be affected. Now more than ever, it is critical that we elect people to our city council who recognize this threat, and do everything they can to slow the process. This also means promoting a statewide initiative to return zoning control to our cities. Preserve Saratoga has carefully considered the council candidates on our ballot.
We wholeheartedly endorse candidates Bill Dalton and Yan Zhao due to their unwavering commitment to take action to preserve our neighborhoods.
Please vote Yan Zhao & Bill Dalton
Measure C: In 1992, Saratoga voted overwhelmingly for Term Limits. This year, Measure ‘C’ makes Term Limits binding. Term limits apply for US Presidents, and they should apply for City Council too.
Please vote Yes on Measure ‘C’
The ballot title for Measure C is as follows:
“ Shall the City of Saratoga adopt an ordinance establishing term limits for members of the Saratoga City Council, limiting individuals to serving two terms and specifying the duration of various types of partial terms that are considered a term for the purposes of term limits? "
Reject: Chuck Page. Violating Term Limit
Based on our support for term limits, we also explicitly reject Chuck Page, who has already served on the council for 8 years! Over a decade ago, Chuck Page worked with Kathleen King to try to log and flatten our city parks and convert them all to AYSO soccer fields to be maintained by the city. He had his plan slogans painted on a van frequently seen in the village. With no authority, Chuck Page worked behind the scenes with MTC to get additional lanes planned for Highway 85 in spite of the stated contractual limit. Together three cities stood their ground in law against the Chuck Page added lanes. Chuck Page has long supported the annexation of Mountain Winery (Listen at 2:39:43). About two years ago, when the annexation of the Mountain Winery on Pierce Road came before the City, it included a proposal to build a 300 room hotel in the highest fire hazard area and reachable only by narrow, unstable, winding, steep mountain roads and located in our critically important watershed. He now denies his support-statement at that final hearing, but many Saratoga residents were present, and heard him loudly and clearly. What does this say about his stance on high density development in any other neighborhood of Saratoga? Time to turn the page on Page.
